1st Place In the Show!

So yesterday the 2nd of September we had a schooling show, and I have been really working to win "Open Jumper Champion" at the end of the year, so yesterday we went in the 2 Jumper classes that would potentially qualify us to do so. We won 1st in both those Classes and I am SO PROUD! Our show season has been going so well it's unbelievable, this horse is magical...I don't know what I would do without her.

Our Eventing Experiences!

So, I haven't made a post in a while as Ragan and I have been so busy eventing. We just started this year, and as it is my first time, it is also Ragan's. She is a natural though! Our first Real event was at Canterdown, on June 10th I believe, and we placed 4th overall! She was such a good girl off property fitting in like one of the old eventing champs. My whole barn did extremely well at this event. Ragan and I went clear in all of our jumping rounds and finished on our dressage score. The plan then was to get her comfortable with bending and getting round off property. We did Pre-Entry at this event. Then we decided why not go 1 step further, and continue with out fabulous eventing adventures while we can :) So next we went to Equus 3D on the 29th (or sometime around then) Our dressage was less than ideal as I forgot the test :/ but of course Ragan picked up the slack for our team and continued doing what she does best, forgetting we even messed up, and calmly carrying on. We moved onto the stadium which was such a blast! We went clear :) Then we moved onto the fun stuff...Cross country!!! She was a doll and we went 100% clear in this as well. Which meant we ended up placing 2nd in our entire division!!! Love her! The plan was still to get her even more comfortable off property in the dressage ring. Yesterday I went to my first Entry level event at Lane's End, and they were the nicest staff on the block!! They were so kind and willing to help, it was lovely. We started with the dressage and had a good 40 minute warm up just like my coach recommended, then when it was our time to do the test she was bending, collecting, listening to my legs the whole 9 yards!!! So I guess you could say, we were excited to move onto the jumping. We were instructed to wear our X-Country clothes to the stadium as there was little time in between. So we plopped on the pink after walking the course and began to warm up..in the pouring rain. It eventually stopped and we proceeded to warm up, she was fantastic, no knocked rails, no refusals, and we walked into the stadium ring with confidence! We went clear with no time faults and no refusals or knocked rails. Then right after ran off to do our cross country...Don't ya just love the rush of eventing? They blew the whistle and we were off! Flying over the first 5 jumps then posing over the 6th for the photographer, moving onto 7,8,9,10,11, and going through the (optional) Water to get to number 12 with no problems at all! We flew over 13,14,15, and 16 like that's what we were meant to do, galloping through the finish line with a clear round and no time faults! We ended up getting 4th in our division and are now excited to be going to Glen Oro on the 23rd of September :) I could not be more proud of this horse! Pictures to come once they download <3

That's my girl!

So Wednesday I had a lesson! We were riding without stirrups. Some of you know I recently broke my nose, which mean that Ragan had quite some time off since I was unable to ride. So sitting trot made my nose...a little bit uncomfortable lol. I could tell Ragan knew that I was not feeling great, and I think she was trying to take care of me, if ever I was leaning to one side she would move under me on that side, almost like she didn't want me to fall off. She will always be my little girl, she always takes care of me. But we had an awesome lesson anyways, Ragan is always such a good little jumper! Anyways I am on vacation right now so I will still be posting pictures and videos but I really don't have much to write about. My friend however is riding Ragan, so when she gives me some details about how Ragan is being I will write about that. See ya later!!! Oh! And later i will upload a video of my mean, green, cross country machine!

Show Pony!

Today we had a dressage show. For anyone that doesn't know what a dressage "test" is...It's basically the same as a regular class, except your all by yourself o_O So Ragan and I entered in a W/T test just to warm us up, and wouldn't you know it... WE GOT FIRST!!!! Love my horse!!! So at this point I am warming up for my W/T/C Test and I'm like "Ok, so we got first in at least one of our tests, good job Ragan!". We entered our next test and came out with yet ANOTHER first place!!!!! What a good girl!!! my wittle mare :)

My Horse and I

I bought Ragan on April 28th, 2011. She was born on April 12th 1998. She is my very first horse ever! I have recently found the time (between riding, and school) to start blogging again...exciting!!! So I have been working with her for about 10, maybe 9 months now? She has been amazing!! Every now and then we have our days where neither of us want to work, and we may have our disagreements... BUT, if I still love her at the end of the day than I must have a special place in my heart for her. <3 So from now on I will be posting a blog entry every Wednesday, on our progress. OH! Did I mention?......I'm eventing this summer!!! Eventing is a combination of dressage, stadium jumping, and of course cross-country. Even though Ragan came from a loving dressage home of 4 years she is the bomb at jumping! we have done 3ft. courses and cleared it!She has even proved to be quite the little barrel horse when we did pole bending and western games in our lesson, we even had a mock games show and we won!I am very happy with my little mare. I hope you enjoy reading our progress. I have uploaded some videos of us jumping at shows, and schooling cross country...
